Text Box: Sometimes, though, it is easier said than done. "Exercise" just sounds like more work to a tired mother. "Eating right" sounds like an impossible dream to a low-income family. "Taking care of yourself" can make a hard-working man feel guilty or self-centered.
Volunteers are chosen for their talents and their compassion. Patient education is geared toward making healthy choices easier. Even our formulary is streamlined to make effective medication choices less expensive.
Our patients are expected to take part in their own care. We teach them about not smoking, we remind them about eating right, we encourage them to make healthy life choices.  Being healthy means listening, understanding, and acting.
